  Introduction and Purpose: Surf Coast Football Club is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants involved in our programs. This Code of Behaviour outlines the expectations and standards of conduct for players, parents/guardians, coaches, and team managers, in accordance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
  
  Respectful Conduct:
  . All individuals associated with Surf Coast Football Club are expected to treat each other with respect, dignity, and fairness.
  . Discrimination, bullying, harassment, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated within the club.
  
  Child Safety:
  . Surf Coast Football Club is committed to complying with the Victorian Child Safe Standards to ensure the safety and welfare of children participating in our programs.
  . All members and stakeholder listed below should be familiar with the Child Safe Standards and their role in assisting the club implement those standards.

  . All adults involved in our club (coaches, team managers and other official positions) are required to submit and maintain a current and valid Working With Children's Check
  
  Parent/Guardian Responsibilities:
  . Parents/guardians are encouraged to support their children's participation in soccer while respecting the decisions of coaches and officials.
  . Adherence to the Football Victoria SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT available via https://footballvictoria.com.au/clubs/rules-regulations/football-policies including positive sideline behavior is expected, including refraining from verbal abuse or aggressive actions towards players, coaches, referees, or other parents.
  . Parents/guardians should familiarise themselves with the club's child safety policies and procedures and actively contribute to creating a safe environment for all children.
  
  Player Responsibilities:
  . Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, respect for teammates and opponents, and adherence to Football Victoria Rules & regulations, club rules and policies.

  . Players are expected to follow all directions issued by a referee and to adhere to directions issued by club officials.
  . Players should conduct themselves with integrity on and off the field, avoiding substance abuse and representing the club positively in the community.
  . Players should feel comfortable reporting any concerns related to their safety or well-being to a trusted adult within the club.
  . Players are responsible to re-pay the club any costs associated with a Yellow or Red card issued.
  
  Coach Responsibilities:
  . Coaches are responsible for prioritising the safety and well-being of players above all else.
  . Coaches should provide constructive feedback, promote skill development, and create a positive learning environment for all players.
  . Physical, emotional, or verbal abuse towards players is strictly prohibited.
  . Coaches should be familiar with the Child Safe Standards and report any concerns or incidents related to child safety immediately.
  . Coaches should ensure that, for members under 18, that they only add the registered member guardians to club correspondence or add an additional guardian at the request of the member guardian.
  . Coaches should understand and implement all relevant Football Victoria Rules & regulations, club rules and policies.

  Team Manager Responsibilities:
  . Team Managers play a vital role in supporting coaches, communicating with parents, and ensuring the smooth operation of matches and events.
  . Professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to club policies are expected from team managers at all times.
  . Team Managers should be familiar with the Child Safe Standards and report any concerns or incidents related to child safety immediately.
  . Team Managers should ensure that, for members under 18, that they only add the registered member guarding to club correspondence or add an additional guardian at the request of the member guardian.
  
  Conflict Resolution:
  . Disputes or conflicts within the club should be reported and addressed through the SCFC Constitution for conflict resolution.
  . Open communication and mediation should be utilised to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
  . Any conflicts or incidents involving child safety must be reported to the appropriate legal authorities and addressed in accordance with the club's child safety policies and procedures.
  
  Consequences of Violations:
  . Violations of the Code of Behaviour or the club's child safety policies may result in disciplinary action, suspension, or expulsion from the club (including the expulsion of a child where the violation relates to a parent or guardian of a member under 18 years of age).
  . Consequences will be applied fairly and consistently to all stakeholders, with the best interests of the children involved being the primary consideration.
  
  Acknowledgment and Agreement:
  . Stakeholders are deemed to have accepted this Code of Behaviours when they undertake a Club Position, as defined in the SCFC Constitution.
  . Stakeholders are also expected to read, understand and by nature of their continuation in their Club Role, agree to any changes to these Code of Behaviours when communicated to them.
  
  Review and Updates:
  . The Code of Behaviour will be periodically reviewed and updated to ensure alignment with club policies, regulations, and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
  . Feedback from stakeholders is welcomed to ensure that the code remains relevant and effective in promoting child safety and well-being.
  
  
  
  Child Safety Policy
  
  1. Purpose: The purpose of this Child Safety Policy is to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of all children participating in Surf Coast Football Club programs and activities. This policy outlines the club's commitment to complying with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and establishes procedures for preventing, identifying, and responding to child abuse and neglect.
  
  2. Scope: This policy applies to all stakeholders involved in Surf Coast Football Club, including but not limited to players, parents/guardians, coaches, team managers, volunteers, officials, and administrators.
  
  3. Commitment to Child Safety: Surf Coast Football Club is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where children can participate in soccer free from the risk of harm. We recognise the rights of all children to be protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and we prioritise their safety and well-being above all else.
  
  4. Compliance with Victorian Child Safe Standards: The club will comply with the Victorian Child Safe Standards, which include the following principles:
  . Child safety is embedded in club culture and governance.
  . Children participate in decisions that affect them and are taken seriously.
  . Families and communities are informed and involved in child safety efforts.
  . Equity is upheld and diverse needs are taken into account.
  . People working with children are suitable and supported.
  . Processes for responding to and reporting child abuse are clear and well-understood.
  
  5. Recruitment and Screening: All individuals involved in Surf Coast Football Club who have contact with children, including coaches, team managers, volunteers, and officials, must undergo a thorough screening process. This process includes:
  . Completion of a Working with Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent.
  . The maintenance of a current and valid WWCC, or the immediate reporting to the club where this expires
  . Reference checks and interviews.
  . Verification of qualifications and experience.
  
  6. Code of Conduct: A Code of Behaviour has been established for all stakeholders, outlining expectations for respectful conduct, positive behaviour, and adherence to child safety principles. Any breaches of the Code of Behaviour will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action.
  
  7. Reporting and Response Procedures: Any concerns, suspicions, or allegations of child abuse or neglect must be reported immediately to the club's designated Child Safety Officer or another appropriate authority, such as the police or child protection services. The club will:
  . Take all reports of child abuse seriously and investigate them promptly and impartially.
  . Support and protect children who disclose abuse or neglect.
  . Provide appropriate support and resources to individuals involved in child safety concerns.
  . Comply with all legal obligations regarding mandatory reporting of child abuse.
  
  8. Confidentiality and Privacy: The club will respect the privacy and confidentiality of individuals involved in child safety concerns, including victims, reporters, and alleged perpetrators. Information related to child safety will be handled sensitively and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.
  
  9. Review and Monitoring: This Child Safety Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices. Any updates or revisions will be communicated to all stakeholders, and feedback will be welcomed to improve child safety practices within the club.
  10. Acknowledgment: By participating in Surf Coast Football Club programs and activities, all stakeholders acknowledge their understanding of and commitment to complying with this Child Safety Policy.
  
  
  Team Allocation Policy:
  
  The Club reserves the right to assign teams at its discretion or, in the event that an appropriate team cannot be allocated, cancel a registration. We will proactively communicate with you if such a scenario arises.
