About The Female Athlete Network:

“Research shows that women in sport are more likely to become CEO’s” - Emily Shears, founder of The Female Athlete Network.
Emily is an Australian pharmacist with postgraduate qualifications in Exercise and Sport Science, and a Master of Education. Parallel to this, Emily consults with several professional sporting organisations as a Performance Health Consultant, combining her expertise in sport pharmacy and exercise science to support athlete wellbeing and performance.

Emily is a mum to 2 young boys who both play for the Surf Coast FC in the mini-roos program. She also has her own elite athlete background having picked up a scholarship to Sydney Uni as a lightweight rower before being selected as part of the AIS Talent ID Program for the Skeleton at the 2006 Torina Olympics!

As the founder of the Female Athlete Network, Emily is a strong advocate for women in sport, and continues to work at the intersection of pharmacy, sport, and health education.

Emily is looking forward to sharing her expertise and insights with us on all things women in sport at the 2025 Surf Coast FC Ladies Day.
